Chapter Five—Comfort Zone
As Seraphine followed the trail of the Great Lily River, she bumped into a young man named Arthur. She had no idea he was a prince, but he greeted her immediately.
“Greetings, what brings you’re here?” Arthur said.
“Hi, I’m trying to find my way to the palace.” Seraphine said.
“Are you new to this place, for I have not seen you before?” Arthur said.
“Yes, but I don’t know how I got here or my way around.” Seraphine said.
“I am familiar of this place. Let me show you around.” Arthur said.
The whole day Seraphine and Arthur traveled through the forest. They visited villages, markets, shops, waterfalls, and many more.
In the evening, they were greeted by Gwine, another maiden of the forest. All 3 sat around the fireplace and began to talk. They talked about each other, questions about the place, and who’s who of the Great Lily Forest. It sounded like a fairytale.
Soon it was decided that Seraphine would stay with Gwine since she lived close by. When they arrived at Gwine’s home, Seraphine was amazed. It looked heavenly. It was not a big house, more like a small cottage, but a glamorous one that is. Gwine showed Seraphine around the cottage. The bath, dining hall, bedroom, and kitchenette. Later that evening, after they ate, a man sent a letter to Gwine’s cottage. It was an invitation to a ball—in honor of the prince’s 21st birthday.
Everyone in the Great Lily Forest was invited. Once Seraphine was informed, she was excited. “Just right out of a fairytale”, thought Seraphine.
Later on both of the women went upstairs to try on dresses.
In the evening when Seraphine went to bed, she was awoken by a conversation outside. It was Gwine and Guardian Mari.
“You know Seraphine can’t go to the ball”, Guardian Mari said.
“She will only be there for a little while. I want her to like it here.” Gwine said.
“But she doesn’t have much time left. She can’t stay here. She belongs in her world. She was supposed to find her way to the palace today. You were supposed to help lead her there” Guardian Mari said.
“I guess I got carried away.” Gwine said.
“You know she is in trouble if she doesn’t leave by 12 midnight tomorrow. “ Guardian Mari said.
They continued to talk.
Seraphine couldn’t believe it. She didn’t want to ever leave this place. This was her new life.
