You Lie Like You Always Do

Dead Lavender

You Lie Like You Always Do

You lie, like you always do
I always knew
Your words were so sly
They play out like a sweet song
Like a soothing lullaby
They make me believe
The truth’s in sight
They fill me with anticipation
From day to night
Only to find disappointment
The story of your life

You lie, like you always do
Yet I continued to remain a fool
Giving you another chance
Entertaining the possibility
That your words will eventually come to be
They make me believe
The truth’s in sight
They fill me with anticipation
From day to night
Only to find disappointment
The story of your life

You lie, like you always do
And now I will never believe you
It’s over now–you lose
You will never be able to fool
Me again
I’ve seen and heard enough to know
It’s time to go
Fair weather friend
It’s time to get away from you
Because you lie, like you always do

At school I always enjoyed reading and writing poetry, but as I perused the sciences, I slammed the door on enjoying the arts, which I sorely regret. I have been dabbling in reading poetry blogs and trying to find a piece of myself that I burried so long ago and this poem really spoke to me. To some of us who are rediscovering our need for the arts, blogs like these are therapeutic.

Comments like this really make me glad to share my poetry with others. I always felt poetry was one of the literary arts that struggle to get recognition but I believe it is very powerful and when I hear others like you find meaning in my poetry, and poetry in general, it makes what I am doing worthwhile. Thank you Ajoobacats 🙂

Beautiful poetry…I think most people want to be honest. We never know what motivates the actions of another, very eloquently expressed poem.

Thank you Heartafire–that is so true, the challenge is understanding why people act the way they do 🙂

  5. An incredible piece, a lot of emotion in there. Think we’ve all dealt with this at some point, and your poetry is always spot on for making a reader connect with it 🙂

Thanks for this comment Mishka! That is what I hope my poetry can do–bring something the reader can relate to and offer encouragement or something positive at the same time 🙂

  7. Hiya, I wonder if I mentioned that I can’t connect to your blog from my reader? I did a search on Google to find you again. Would you be good enough to update your Gravatar account information to this website’s address? When I click over it tells me that barn7777 is no longer on wordpress. Thank you for your support, and see you soon.

      • No problem. I usually just hop over from my dashboard so it does save time. Have a great day.
